NSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

 

 

BEFORE STARTING INSURE FIREARM IS UNLOADED AND CHAMBER IS CLEARED!! REMOVE UPPER RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. CAREFULLY READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING. WEAR SAFETY GLASSES TO PREVENT EYE INJURY.

 

 NOTICE:  YOU SHOULD PERMANENTLY ATTACH THE KALI KEY TO YOUR FIREARM’S BOLT CARRIER GROUP (BCG) USING A PERMANENT THREADLOCKER. ONCE INSTALLED, THE KALI KEY SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM YOUR FIREARM.

 

THE KALI KEY IS DESIGNED TO FUNCTION ONLY WITH DIRECT IMPINGEMENT GAS SYSTEMS (NON-PISTON), AND HIGH PRESSURE TESTED (HPT) AND MAGNETIC PARTICLE INSPECTED (MPI) MIL-SPEC BOLTS AND BOLT CARRIER GROUPS. THERE IS NO WARRANT TO THE PROPER FUNCTIONALITY OF THE PRODUCT WITH GENERIC, NON-MPI AND NON-HPT BOLTS. THE KALI KEY MAY CAUSE QUICKER CARBON BUILD-UP WITHIN THE RIFLE UPPER. KEEP YOUR RIFLE ACTION CLEAN TO AVOID FOULING ISSUES.

THE KALI KEY COMES IN TWO PARTS: (1) THE GAS DIVERSION BLOCK WITH MOUNTING SCREWS & (2) THE CHARGE HANDLE PORTION. IF YOU PURCHASED A NEW BOLT CARRIER GROUP WITHOUT A GAS KEY FROM KALI KEY, PLEASE SKIP TO STEP 4.

  • REMOVE YOUR BOLT CARRIER GROUP (BCG) FROM THE RIFLE AND PUT ASIDE THE FACTORY CHARGE HANDLE. YOU WILL NOT NEED THE CHARGE HANDLE.

 

  • USING AN ALLEN WRENCH, REMOVE THE TWO SCREWS ATTACHING THE CARRIER GAS KEY TO THE BOLT CARRIER. IF THE SCREWS ARE STAKED, ALTERNATE BETWEEN THE TWO SCREWS WITH SHORT TURNS UNTIL THE CARRIER GAS KEY IS REMOVED WITH THE SCREWS ATTACHED AS A SINGLE UNIT.

 

  • CLEAN THE MATING SURFACES OF THE CARRIER AND THE GAS KEY YOU JUST REMOVED. IF THERE IS ANY CARBON BUILDUP, USE A SOLVENT AND A BRUSH TO GET IT ALL OFF. CLEAN THE MATING SURFACE OF THE KALI KEY GAS DIVERSION BLOCK.

 

  • PLACE THE KALI KEY GAS DIVERSION BLOCK ONTO THE BOLT CARRIER WHERE THE GAS KEY USED TO RESIDE. SPECIAL ATTENTION MUST BE USED TO ENSURE THAT THE KALI KEY GAS DIVERSION BLOCK IS PERFECTLY ALIGNED WITH THE BOLT CARRIER. TO FACILITATE THIS, THE BOLT CARRIER SHOULD HAVE GAS KEY GUIDE GROOVES IN WHICH THE KALI KEY GAS DIVERSION BLOCK WILL SIT.

 

  • USING THE SUPPLIED SCREWS, ALTERNATING BETWEEN SCREWS, SCREW THE KALI KEY GAS DIVERSION BLOCK TO THE BOLT CARRIER TO A MAXIMUM TORQUE OF 40 INCH POUNDS (AR-15 & AR-10). PERMANENT THREAD LOCKER (I.E. LOCTITE RED 271) SHOULD BE USED.

 

  • PROPER LUBRICATION OF THE KALI KEY, BCG, AND CHAMBER IS ESSENTIAL. REPEAT EVERY 500 ROUNDS WITH A QUALITY HIGH-TEMPERATURE GUN LUBRICANT. GENEROUS LUBRICATION IS ALWAYS RECOMMENDED AND ESSENTIAL ON NEW RIFLES THAT HAVE NOT BEEN BROKEN IN.

 

  • MATE THE KALI KEY GAS DIVERSION BLOCK AND CHARGE HANDLE PORTION BY SLIDING THE TWO TOGETHER FROM THE SIDE.REINSTALL THE KALI KEY AND BCG INTO THE RIFLE. YOUR AR STYLE RIFLE WILL NOW WORK AS A BOLT ACTION RIFLE.

 

NOTE: REMOVING THE 3 GAS RINGS FROM THE AR BOLT WILL RESULT IN SMOOTHER CHARGING AND OPERATION. WHILE RECOMMENDED, THIS IS ENTIRELY OPTIONAL.
